Verizon FiOS TV Offers New York Area Customers Free Mets Games On-Demand From SNY

SNY and Verizon Reach Programming Agreement, Making SNY First Regional Sports Network in New York to Provide VOD to FiOS TV Customers

News Release

April 21, 2009 –

NEW YORK - Verizon FiOS TV, the only all-digital TV service delivered by a major provider over an advanced fiber network straight to customers' homes and businesses, and SNY - the official TV home of the New York Mets, New York Jets and Big East Conference - have reached a programming agreement to bring New York area viewers the most comprehensive sports video-on-demand (VOD) content in the region.  SNY was the first regional sports network in New York to provide college and professional games to Verizon.

This agreement provides Verizon's FiOS TV subscribers in New York City, Westchester and Rockland counties, Long Island, Buffalo, and Northern New Jersey free access to more than 120 New York Mets regular season game telecasts, classic Mets games, "Mets Weekly" and "Kids Clubhouse."  Mets fans may have already seen some of the coverage, which began earlier this month.

In addition to Mets programming, FiOS TV subscribers will have access to Big East programming, including the Big East "Game-of-the-Week," for both football and basketball.  FiOS TV subscribers will also have access to SNY's critically acclaimed original entertainment programming featuring "Beer Money," a New York sports trivia show, and "Street Games," which celebrates distinct New York athletic games including stickball, handball and roller hockey.  Big East football and basketball games, as well as SNY's original programming, have been available on FiOS TV VOD since last fall.

FiOS TV subscribers who miss the regular season games can catch a replay on-demand, with access to the game for three days. Customers can access the free VOD content in the SNY Folder, found in both the FiOS1 "Local Zone" and "Sports" categories.

"Our agreement with SNY gives Mets fans a front-row seat to Verizon's amazing picture-and-sound quality, giving customers a game experience that is the next best thing to sitting in Citi Field," said Terry Denson, vice president - FiOS TV content and programming. "With our industry-leading VOD library, subscribers have the luxury of catching up on any missed or classic games with the convenience of watching them whenever subscribers want."

Marie DeParis, SNY's vice president of marketing and business development, said, "We appreciate Verizon's partnership and all they are doing to maximize SNY's critically acclaimed content by ensuring not only great picture quality, but also making  the content readily available on an on-demand basis to all  FiOS TV subscribers in the New York area."

SNY is the official television home of the New York Mets, Jets and the Big East Conference.  Featuring unparalleled access to the New York Mets, with more than 120 live Mets telecasts - all produced in HD - and other critically acclaimed Mets programming, SNY also delivers more than 250 hours of year-round, exclusive, in-depth New York Jets content.  As the official TV home of the Big East Conference, SNY will air more than 125 conference football and basketball games, as well as other Big East programming.

FiOS TV offers a broad collection of programming, with more than 500 all-digital channels and 14,000 VOD titles each month - 70 percent of which are free.  Verizon's VOD library also includes more than 1,300 HD titles.  FiOS TV is currently available to more than 9.2 million homes in 14 states.
